MEET ROBBIE & MACALA MAYS

Robbie graduated from McDaniel College in 2019, where Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) played a large role during his college years. Soon after graduation, Robbie felt called to pursue college ministry, seeing how college is such a crucial time for students who are learning more about their identity and purpose. These two questions - Who am I? and Why am I here? - are two of the most important questions people will ask themselves, usually while in college. After an internship doing college ministry in South Carolina, Robbie moved to Edinboro and met Macala in 2020.

Macala graduated from Edinboro University in 2019, where college ministry also played a foundational role for her. They got married in the Fall of 2021, and moved to Lock Haven, PA at the beginning of 2022. Robbie and Macala now lead NewLife at Lock Haven University, helping students discover the answers to the big questions of life through the lens of Jesus Christ. As people, college students are made in God's image with the purpose of glorifying Him. This is the foundation of NewLife, that students would find and follow Jesus not just in college, but throughout their whole lives.

LHU NewLife is a diverse fellowship of young adults and college students who come together with the support of the university and a local church, Big Woods Bible Church to praise and spread the name of Jesus Christ. Though our supporting church, Big Woods Bible Church, is defined as Southern Baptist, we have students with all denominational backgrounds from Methodist, Mennonite, and non-denominational evangelical, to new believers and recent converts who haven't had any experience in the church. We welcome people in all stages of their walk with Christ.

CORE VALUES

1. Encounter Jesus by sharing the Gospel        with others (Matthew 28:19-20,                    Revelation 7:9)

2. Equip disciples to live missionally and           make disciples (2 Timothy 2:2)

3. Engage the campus and community with       the Gospel to meet both spiritual and           tangible needs

OUR MISSION

Mission Statement:

"Glorifying God, by together becoming disciples of Christ who build relationships through Spirit-filled lives of love, unity, and service."

Vision Statement:

Our vision is to see students know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and become disciples that impact the campus, community, and world for the Kingdom of God. In addition to their academic learning, we want to see students succeed as global citizens in this world, impacting their communities with the Gospel. Through discipleship and public service, students will glorify God in all they do in their lives as they become more well-rounded, responsible adults ready to adapt to their ever-changing world both in and out of the classroom.

What we believe:

  1. That the Bible is the Word of God and is our final authority for faith, life and practice.

  2. In one God, the Creator of all things. He is infinitely perfect, constantly loving, and eternally exists in three Persons - the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  3. In Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. He was truly God and truly man. He was born of a virgin. He lived a perfect life. He died on the cross in payment for our sin. He arose from the dead. He is coming again.

  4. That salvation is a gift of God's grace. It cannot be earned or deserved. God forgives our sin and gives us eternal life when we trust Jesus as our Savior. We believe that the person who truly comes to faith in Christ is eternally saved and safe.

  5. That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Jesus Christ. In the church, He gives enabling gifts to carry out the work of Christ on earth.
